Background
Umo Eno, a native of Ikot Ekpene Udo in Nsit Ubium Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, was born on April 24, 1964, in Enugu. His father, Bassey Umo Eno, was a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), while his mother, Deaconess Eka Bassey Umo Eno, was a merchant.
Umo Eno attended Local Government Authority Primary School in Lagos and completed his secondary education at St. Francis Secondary School in Ikot Ataku, Eket, and Victory High School in Lagos, where he obtained the West African Senior School Certificate. A dedicated lifelong learner, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science and Public Administration and a Master of Science degree in Public Administration from the University of Uyo. He is currently working on his thesis for a PhD in Political Administration from the same university.

Family Life
Pastor Umo Eno is a distinguished family man. He has been married to Pastor (Mrs) Patience Umo Eno for 33 years. They have six children and several grandchildren.

Work Profile
Pastor Umo Eno began his career in the private sector, holding various positions at Bertola Machine Tools Ltd and Union Bank Plc, where he worked in the Business Advisory and Financial Planning Department. He later joined Norman Investment Ltd, where he distinguished himself with his excellence and integrity. As Finance and Investment Manager, he developed a financial roadmap that increased the company’s revenue growth rate from 5% to 15% within a year. He eventually rose to the position of Group General Manager of Norman Holdings Ltd.
In 1997, he founded Royalty Hotels & Recreations Ltd. Starting with just five rooms, the business expanded into a conglomerate of hospitality and allied services, becoming a leading brand in Akwa Ibom State and Nigeria. The Royalty Group’s portfolio includes hotels, apartments, eateries, coffee shops (Big Daddy), industrial catering, and AkwaFresh Premium Table Water. The group employs over 2,500 people, 80% of whom are Akwa Ibom State indigenes.
Public Service
In 2004, Pastor Umo Eno was appointed Chairman of the Hotels and Tourism Management Board by Governor Arch. Obong Victor Attah. His achievements include the first state-wide hotel inspection for categorization and classification and the development of the first Akwa Ibom Hotels Directory.
In September 2019, he was appointed Executive Director of Agricultural Investment at the Akwa Ibom State Investment Corporation (AKICORP) by Governor Deacon Udom Emmanuel. His notable achievements include:
- Revamping Akwa Palm Limited
- Establishing Ibom Fadama Microfinance Bank Ltd
- Constructing the Dakkada Warehouse/Off-Taking & Training Centre in Nsit Ubium LGA
- Initiating the Akwa Ibom State Youth Empowerment in Agribusiness Programme (AKSG YEAP PILOT 50)
- Facilitating the OCP Africa Cassava End2End Smart Model and constructing OCP Africa Farm and Fortune Hub/One Stop Shop/Training Hall in Ikot Ekpene Ukim, Uruan LGA, and Ikpe Ikot Nkon, Ini LGA
In January 2021, he was appointed Commissioner for Lands and Water Resources in the Akwa Ibom State Executive Council. Under his leadership, the Ministry achieved significant milestones, including:
- Providing sites and services at the Dakkada Luxury Estate
- Introducing the Akwa Ibom State Geographic Information System (AKWAGIS)
- Ensuring best practices in the payment of compensation and preparation of site plans for land acquisition and allocation
- Conducting enumeration and valuation exercises for major investment projects
- Inaugurating the Committee on Land Verification and Recovery
- Registering several land instruments to meet revenue targets
- Allocating land for various development purposes
- Promptly signing and releasing Certificates of Occupancy (C-of-O)
In the water sector, he initiated and completed numerous impactful projects, including reviewing the Akwa Ibom State Water Sector Draft Bill.
